I don’t think I need to write too long about what music means to black people. We’ve already touched on some music legends with this series. The list of genres that have come from us is so extensive because music is a part of us. Our hearts beat to the rhythm of the drum.
Music is woven into the fabric of who we are, it’s in our dna. Music is healing. It is a balm. Music has the power to take your consciousness back to a specific memory. It is a feeling that can activate all our senses. We have always used music to transmute our pain, praise the divine, & tell our stories.
Music sets the stage & is the art. Music allows us to travel across dimensions, time & frequencies. It helps us to create different realities.
Music is alchemy.
